Now you see 'em--now you don't....

I showed you these before. They no longer exist. Driving down W. Gray a few days ago I saw the huge shovel crunching and crushing them up and the pieces being loaded on to one big truck after another, headed for the landfill. So glad I got the pics when I did cause I'll miss them. And remember them when I see the soulless strip center that replaces them. I feel sad that Houston has so little respect for old buildings.
Tuesday I went with two friends into neighborhoods in danger of being taken over by more developers and we took pictures, a few of which I'll show you one day soon.
Today I'm grateful:
- to have just finished Emmett Fox's book, The Ten Commandments, this morning at 7am--there's some very 50's stuff in there but there's also some very powerful info there, too
- to have received a loooong string of Tibetan prayer flags from Pam by overnight mail on Feb. 28--the Tibetan New Year's Day. They look great on my gate, all of them waving in the breeze
- that I'll get to the noon Jackson Hill Gang meeting and then go exercise today
- for our great Houston winter weather
- that my next read, Emmett Fox's Sermon on the Mount, is waiting for me on my bedside table
"What do you think of the nature of God? What do you think God is like? That is the most important question in the whole world because your idea of God will determine your whole life ...you cannot escape from the result of your idea of God, and whatever your idea of God is, will affect your life in every way." --Emmett Fox, The Ten Commandments

I love it!Photography is so important these days in capturing what "was" because developement knows no respect or care for the heritage in most towns anymore.
I hardly reconize some areas in my city anymore, ugh.
Happy Shutter Bugging!!!
Thanks for sharing
Love the pic! So many Houston buildings are disappearing! and LOVE Emmett Fox. Happy reading!
God is LOVE... I liked Sermon on the mt...
hope your day is awesome!!!
Ditto on the old buildings.
Many years ago, I had a short relationship with a preacher. He taught me (first-hand) about The Sermon on the Mount.
I had forgotten the picture of the face - I love that one. It is sad when things people in the community love and cherish are destroyed for the sake of making a buck. I look forward to seeing more of your photos.
My idea of God...the love of my life I know will never leave me.
Best regards from NY! » »
